Committee Elections

Once a year, student representatives to the faculty council, student parliament, and senate are elected.

Once a year – typically in summer – the university-wide committee elections take place. All students at the University of Stuttgart elect their representatives to official university bodies. FIUS regularly puts forward candidates.

What is being elected?

  • Faculty Council (Großer Fakultätsrat): The central decision-making body of Faculty 5. Nine elected students sit alongside professors and research staff and vote on study-related matters.
  • Student Parliament (Studierendenparlament / StuPa): The parliament of the entire student body of the University of Stuttgart. stuvus is elected here.
  • Senate: The highest governing body of the university, with student participation.

How do I vote?

Voting takes place digitally via the university’s central platform SIAM, to which wahlen.stuvus.de redirects. You need your university account to participate. Information about the election and the exact dates will be sent out via the st-Mail at the appropriate time.

Run for election — get involved!

You don’t just have to vote — you can run yourself. Every student can create their own list and gather candidates. We at FIUS are happy to help interested students run for the faculty council or include them on the departmental group list.

If you’re interested or have questions about running as a candidate, come talk to us at a meeting (Tue 1:10pm, Room 0.108) or write to us at fs@fius.de.
