Questions & Help

Schedule confusion? BAföG? Semester abroad? We're happy to help or point you to the right place.

University life doesn’t always go according to plan – and that is completely normal. Whether you’re struggling with your schedule, have questions about exam regulations, or are considering switching your degree program: come by and talk to us, we’re happy to help.

Important: We do not offer official or legally binding academic counseling. We are simply fellow students who can help based on our own experience.

Peer Advice: Students Helping Students

We know the faculty, the quirks of C@MPUS, and have probably made most of the typical study mistakes ourselves.

  • Just drop by: Feel free to come to our student association room (0.001) at any time. If someone is around (and that is almost always the case), we’ll help you directly. There are no fixed office hours – the door is open.
  • By email: Can’t make it in person? Write to us at fs@fius.de – we respond quickly and informally.
  • Typical topics: Building your schedule, experiences with elective modules, exam tips, feeling lost in your studies.

Official Counseling Services

For formal, legal, or psychological matters, there are specialized services at the university and the Studierendenwerk. Additionally, Katrin, our department manager, is an important first point of contact for many organizational matters in the department. You’ll find a full overview – from subject advisors and the exam board to psychotherapeutic counseling – on our Official Counseling & Support Services page.

Don’t hesitate to just ask – together we’ll find the right way forward!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I best prepare for exams?

Tips for exams and preparation:

  • Practice with past exams: This is often the best preparation. Check out our past exams loan service.
  • Form study groups: Studying together is often easier. Use our student association room or the study rooms on campus to get together with others.
  • Review exercise sheets: Exam questions are often based on the formats of the exercise sheets from the semester.

How do I register or deregister for exams?

  • Registration: Registration is usually done via the C@MPUS portal. Be sure to pay attention to the registration deadlines, which are set centrally by the university!
  • Deregistration: Deregistration is usually also possible via C@MPUS until shortly before the exam (often up to 7 days before without giving reasons). In case of illness, you must submit a medical certificate to the examination office in good time.
